The two are a part of a year-old program that allows high school students to explore the health care field and even promises a job offer upon graduation. The program will guarantee them offers through IU Health as a medical assistant or patient care technician in a state where some hospitals have been short staffed. “Crispus Attucks sits right in the backyard,” Program Manager Andrea Russell said, referring to the proximity of the school to the hospitals involved in the program. ”Russell said the program targets students of various backgrounds interested in working in health care. The program covers an array of jobs in health care from cardiology to travel nursing as well as the business side of the medical field. Since the program covers many topics, Harris said she learns a new thing every day.
