Our Approach

The foundation of the Mosaic Center’s work is co-active career and financial coaching, designed to help members set and achieve goals on their own terms and on their own time. Put simply, “co-active coaching” means that you are an active participant in the process alongside your coach.

Our philosophy is built upon a foundation of understanding and respect: we believe that people are naturally creative, resourceful, and whole. No matter where you have been or where you are trying to go, you are not broken and you do not need fixing.

We also believe that you can’t be defined by any one part of your unique experiences, skills, or ambitions. So by integrating our efforts to understand who you are and what you want to accomplish, our coaches are working to intentionally create links between everything that matters to you: your career, your family, your finances, your education, and more.

Coaching Services

Through our integrated approach, Mosaic Center members work with one or more of our coaches to set and achieve goals related to career advancement, financial stability, and personal fulfillment. This coaching process is entirely individualized, meaning that the frequency of coaching sessions and the duration of the coaching relationship is up to you. Our coaches can help with:

Programs + Partnerships

Outside of coaching, the Mosaic Center team is working to improve access to healthcare careers in a number of ways — from engaging local high school students to helping some of our most vital frontline healthcare workers advance their careers.

Everything we do is made possible by the support of a vast network of partner organizations, all working together with IU Health to achieve our common goals. Below is a snapshot of a few of those key partnerships—but our network is always growing. Please contact us to learn more about how your company or organization can join our network of partners.

IU HEALTH HIGH SCHOOL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Developed in partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools and Crispus Attucks High School, the IU Health High School Fellowship Program is creating opportunities for young people to explore, gain exposure, and build skills for employment in a diverse range of healthcare careers. This innovative program is managed by the Mosaic Center team and is now in a pilot period at CAHS.

Program highlights:

  • Fellows complete a comprehensive three-year curriculum, including academic learning, work-based learning (internships at IU Health facilities), and opportunities to earn certifications and college credit prior to graduation.
  • Participants gain access to social supports and workshops focused on college readiness, professional networking, and workplace etiquette.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, graduates earn guaranteed employment with IU Health, tuition assistance to pursue postsecondary education in a related field, and access to Mosaic Center coaching services and resources.

MEDICAL ASSISTANT CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Medical Assistants support healthcare teams by completing a variety of administrative and clinical duties, ranging from collecting and recording data to preparing patients for exams and assisting with certain procedures. Since 2017, the IU Health Medical Assistant Certification program (now managed by the Mosaic Center) has worked to help qualified team members advance their careers by earning a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential, earning promotions and pay increases, and better supporting their clinical teams.

Program Highlights:

  • Over 400 certifications achieved
  • Highest first-attempt pass rate of any similar program in the nation
  • Significant improvement in the turnover rate among IU Health Medical Assistants
  • 48% reduction in the number of Medical Assistant job vacancies across the IU Health system

Learning Opportunities

In addition to our one-on-one coaching services and intensive programs, the Mosaic Center team works year-round to create and facilitate a wide variety of workshops, webinars, and other opportunities for our members and the community we serve. These events are typically free and open to the public, covering everything from resume-building and interview prep to home-buying readiness and emotional intelligence.

How Mosaic Center & IU Health Partnered to Support Area 31 Pre-Nursing Students

Dec 9, 2025

On December 5, 2025, the Mosaic Center for Work, Life + Learning teamed up with Indiana University Health to support Area 31 Career Center’s Mock Interview Day , an immersive experience designed to help pre-nursing students build confidence and practice real-world communication skills. Students split their school day between their home high school and specialized training at Area 31, where programs like pre-nursing give them an early, hands-on introduction to clinical concepts and patient care fundamentals. With support from Mosaic Center’s K-12 Program Lead Matt DeGolyer, nursing hiring leaders and the IU Health HR team, pre-nursing students had the chance to: Practice realistic, one-on-one interview conversations Get real-time feedback on communication, professionalism, and presentation Build confidence in discussing their experiences, skills, and goals This event reflects the Mosaic Center’s ongoing commitment to expand access to healthcare career pathways and support young people at the earliest stages of their journey.
